Overview

These days, many confidential conversations and important decisions are being made on-the-move. The mobile phone is rapidly replacing conventional landline telephone network as the communication method of choice. At the same time, eavesdropping is becoming logistically and technically easier and the necessary equipment less expensive. End-to-end encryption and user authentication in mobile communications is becoming increasingly important to guarantee privacy and security.
Would you write your important, confidential business correspondence on a postcard?

Secusmart combines trusted hardware encryption and certificate-based authentication with ease-of-use and crystal clear voice quality.

The solution comprises a microSD card with integrated crypto-component (chip) and Secuvoice software. This hardware-based encryption technology is currently only used in top military security installations, e.g., secure key storage, random number generator and cipher stream generator on dedicated, EAL5+ certified hardware.

Cryptography

The conceptual cryptographic solution for Secuvoice was developed by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The cryptography is based on the end-to-end algorithm of the TETRA network (terrestrial trunked radio) for authorities and organisations with security tasks (BOS). The solution consists of a root CA, trust centre, a crypto-variable management station, multi channel crypto component and a security card.

Secusmart has adapted several components of the BOS solution for usage in a GSM network. It combines top security cryptography with the highest speech quality and intuitive usage in a modern business mobile phone.
